Perspective K9 is the place to go for all of your canine needs!
While we prioritize training, we also offer boarding, daycare, walks, transport & more. Amanda does most services out of her home- offering a more individualized, at-home feel for your pets.
By paying attention to the emotions being emitted by each individual dog, we are able to determine if they are fearful, over-aroused, frustrated, etc. Once these emotions are established, sessions can be adjusted to keep them as successful and enjoyable for the dog as possible. At Perspective K9, we believe this is the most effective method. By training this way, we avoid dogs shutting down out of fear and uncertainty.
Perspective K9 believes in utilizing all four of the conditioning quadrants on an as-needed basis. These quadrants include positive reinforcement, negative reinforcement, positive punishment, and negative punishment. Just like people, animals go through emotions that vary depending on environmental, physical, and mental factors. These are all taken into account during training sessions and applied accordingly.
Working with families to create their ideal companion is always the goal, and that path will vary depending on the handler’s goals for their family and their canine! Training plans will be tailored to the specific dog in front of Amanda, rather than relying on a specific “system” or tool to use as a cookie-cutter solution.
Training dogs is like putting together a big puzzle, and problem solving how to build them can be approached very differently depending on many factors. Every dog’s perception of a specific tool, environment, tone of voice, etc., varies greatly. Just like people, the acknowledgment of previous traumas, experiences & lessons are vital to efficient progress. Through this ideology, Perspective K9 was born.
