About Amanda
Amanda is the owner & head trainer of Perspective K9, established in June of 2024. Amanda has been working with dogs for over 15 years, from a volunteer dog walker, to a kennel manager, to decoying bite-work dogs to prepare for sport trials. She has hands-on experience in bathing/grooming care, transporting animals, in-home pet sitting, training, and more.
Amanda heavily values hands-on experiences and is always pursuing new learning opportunities for both her clients and herself. She has a bachelor's degree from Purdue University in Animal Sciences, is a NePoPo®️ Silver & NePoPo® Gold graduate, 1x NePoPo®️ E-collar Certificate holder, & is currently training to certify as a PSA Trial Decoy. She competes in the sport PSA (Protection Sports Association) with her personal dogs. Ruko, one 0f her Malinois, currently holds his PDC and is training for PSA 1. Tantrum, her dutchie is training for her career in the sport as well.
Amanda has also completed multiple certifications including, but not limited to, Dog/Cat CPR, TLAER (Technical Large Animal Emergency Rescue) 24 hour Course, and Covance Lab Animal Handling.
Amanda has worked with all kinds of animal species over the years, including rodents, reptiles/amphibians, birds, livestock, companions, and exotics (everything from sugar gliders to tigers). She has extensive livestock handling experience, specifically with cattle, pigs and horses (having owned 6 personally). She has always been dedicated to the animal kingdom, but dogs are where her passion truly lies.
Amanda currently has 4 dogs (an English Cocker Spaniel, 2 Belgian Malinois, and a Dutch Shepherd), 2 shorthair cats, 1 ball python, and 4 chickens.
